what the hell is the Dead Piett Society?

We started life in 2015 as a podcast hosted by four friends, talking about weird news with lots of pop culture references. In 2019 we pivoted to video, becoming a weekly interactive live stream.

We look at the weirdest news from the previous week, we play games to see who can tell made up facts from the freaky truth, we ask strangers random questions, we read out odd listener stories and generally have a lot of fun.

We’re family friendly, not too serious and completely unprofessional.

We are currently not doing regular shows. We were previously hosted by GetVokl every Tuesday night as part of their Tickle Me Tuesday lineup.

You can message us in the chat room as we do the show. Plus if you have a camera, jump into the show with your opinions & questions.

You can also find our Simulcast on our Facebook page, Periscope, Twitter & Twitch.

What the hell is with that name?

Admiral Firmus Piett served in the Imperial Starfleet of the Galactic Empire during the later stages of the Galactic Civil War. He initially served as first officer on the Executor, the flagship of Lord Darth Vader, before being promoted to Admiral. He died during the Battle of Endor.

Dead Poets Society is a 1989 film written by Tom Schulman, directed by Peter Weir and starring Robin Williams. Set at the conservative and aristocratic Welton Academy in the Northeastern United States in 1959, it tells the story of an English teacher who inspires his students through his teaching of poetry.

Piett kinda looks/sounds like Poet. And so we swapped them. Because we thought it was funny. You may or may not agree.

A few people to thank!

These are the fine folk who have contributed something to the podcast in one way or another…
